Daisy Swenson (McGuire) Buck, 101, a farm wife of Great Falls, died on Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at her residence of natural causes, but she lived a remarkable 101 years! Her funeral service will be at Hillcrest Lawn Chapel on Friday, August 20, 2010 at 2:00 p.m., with burial in Hillside Cemetery, Cascade on Saturday, August 21, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Daisy was born August 6, 1909 in Bourbon, Illinois. She moved to the Harlem, Montana area with her six siblings and parents when she was six. She married Marvin J. Swenson in September of 1929. They homesteaded near Vaughn in 1940. A mother of four daughters, Daisy worked as mother’s helper, school cook, nursing assistant and farmer’s wife. She enjoyed her garden, chickens and being a seamstress. She moved to Great Falls in 1953, where she worked at a local hospital. Upon her retirement, she moved to the Hardee Creek Canyon until Marvin’s death in 1977. In 1987, Daisy married Art Buck in Ulm, where she lived a rancher’s life until Art died in 1993. Daisy seldom missed an opportunity to do something practical and kind for anyone she saw in need, whether it was making a quilt for someone in a nursing home, crocheting baby booties for an ailing “preemie”, or sewing a wedding dress for someone special. She baked cookies and pies for any reason as well as for no reason, other than sharing (and they were scrumptious). Survivors include her daughters, Doris Milano of Colorado Springs, CO, Carol Crews of Great Falls and Sandy Truax of Chewelah, WA; a sister, Emma Canada of Cascade; 10 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; three husbands, Marvin, Howard and Art; a daughter, Joyce; granddaughter Vicki and grandson Joe | ||
