Obituary for Roberta "Bertie" Rose Ogden

Roberta “Bertie” Rose (Deardorff) Ogden was born on November 24, 1920, in Conrad, Montana to George and Nellie Deardorff. Her family lived in and around Great Falls, to include the Raynesford and Cascade areas. She attended and graduated from Great Falls High School. In 1940, she married a local rancher, Cecil Ogden, and they began their married lives on the ranch near Hound Creek. In 1942, they moved to Port Townsend, Washington as Cecil had enlisted in the US Coast Guard. Back to the ranch in 1946, along with their 6 month old daughter, Susan, they lived and worked hard here until 1981 when they moved to Cascade. Their son, Rowan, took over the ranch. In 2001 they moved to Great Falls. In 2003, her dear Cecil passed and Bertie moved to The Lodge in 2015.
Mom was a lifetime member of the Cascade American Legion Auxiliary, Cascade Eastern Star, Smith River Home Dem Club and Cascade County Cowbelles. She was a beautiful seamstress among other crafts, a top notch cook for family, friends, many hired men and an impeccable housekeeper. She loved her crossword puzzles. She always had a beautiful yard and flowers. No grass grew under her feet.
She is survived by her daughter , Susan (Buster) Drummond, son, Rowan (Gail “Buffie”); grandchildren, Shelley (Sheldon) Hanna, Jeff (Amber) Drummond, Jaci (Colin) Lee, Dustin (Becky) Ogden, Stephanie (Lantz) Baltzhazer, eleven great-grandchildren; sister, June Anderson; and many nieces; and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Cecil; two infant brothers; brother, Loyal “Buster” Deardorff; two sisters, Maudie Collins and Nelda Tombrink; four brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law; and many nieces; and nephews.
Mom, how are we going to keep up with our family history without your sharp mind? We love you and know you are at peace now and with your beloved Cecil. You can visit with your two best friends, Ada McKamey and Dorothy Cox, who has baked cinnamon rolls for all of you.
Graveside services for Roberta “Bertie” Ogden will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2020, at Highland Cemetery. Masks and social distancing are appreciated. Due to Covid restrictions and unavailability of meeting, we are unable to have a luncheon following her service.
Memorials in memory of Bertie may be given to a charity of your choice.
