Alan Dennis Kohut

Alan Dennis Kohut, 52, of Billings and formerly of Great Falls, passed away January 30, 2018 in a Billings care center. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 6, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Schnider Funeral Home. A reception for family and friends will be held Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Pit Stop, 1600 25th Ave in Black Eagle. A private family service with burial will be held earlier. Schnider Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Alan was born Easter Sunday, April 18, 1965 in Great Falls to John D. and Beverly “Jean” (Keener) Kohut. He graduated from Centerville High School and attended some college courses to become a teacher. He was also a volunteer at the library in Billings. He resided in Billings until his passing. He was a member of the Catholic Church while in Billings. He was active in 4-H when he was attending school. He had a strong love for animals, but birds were his favorite, especially the Meadow Lark. He loved music and his favorite song was “Sailing” by Christopher Cross and any song by John Denver. Alan is survived by his parents, John D. and Jean of Great Falls; brother Carl of Miami, FL; sister-in-law Rita (Keith) Schumacher of Helena; niece Amanda (Bobby) Lake; nephews Justin and Joe (Nichole) Schumacher; great-niece Kaleigh Lake; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother Donald; and grandparents John and Anne Kohut and Glenn and Lucille Keener.
