Bette Irene Calvert

March 26, 1922 — February 8, 2020

Bette Calvert, 97, passed away of natural causes on Saturday, February 8, 2020. She was born in Choteau, MT to Emma and Gotlieb Spahr on March 26, 1922. She attended school in Conrad, MT before graduating from Great Falls High School in 1940. Bette worked as a bookkeeper for Noble’s Mercantile in Great Falls before she married Jerry Calvert. Later she worked at the 1st National Bank of Great Falls as a bookkeeper before retiring in 1987. Bette was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Great Falls, Phi Beta Kappa, and volunteered as a docent at the CM Russel Museum. She enjoyed playing bridge with her many friends, interior decorating, exercising on the walking trails along the Missouri River and traveling with friends from the Summit Club. Bette was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Gloria Larson and Gladys Aznoe; husband, Jerry; and sons, George and Bill. Her survivors include her daughter, Mary (Lynn) Carpenter of Lakewood, Colorado; daughters-in-law, Patricia Calvert of Rochester, MN and Larry Calvert of Columbia Falls, MT; nieces; nephews; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and her longtime friends, Homer Christensen and Jeanne Nobbs. A graveside service has been postponed until current restrictions on travel and gatherings are lifted.
