Burton Ginther, 93, of Fairfield, passed away June 5, 2019, in Great Falls, Montana after a short illness. Burton was born on January 31, 1926, in Bartley, Nebraska. He and his family moved west of Richey, Montana in the spring of 1929. In the spring of 1941, his parents homesteaded on the west end of the Fairfield Bench.He served as a Navy CB in the 38th Battalion during WWII.He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree (1952) and a Master’s in Science (1958) from Montana State College.He married Blanche Fowler in July of 1960.Burton worked as a chemist for Anaconda Company (Anaconda), Phillip Petroleum (Idaho Falls, ID), and for the Department of Agriculture in both Montana (Bozeman) and Washington (Yakima, WA) states. He retired from the Washington Department of Agriculture in the spring of 1994, moving back to the Fairfield Bench. Burton is survived by his sister, Norma Sangray; children, Beth Summers, Fred Ginther, Clara Warner, and Ellen Ginther; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; one sister; and his wife. Memorial Services will be at the Augusta Community Church on June 22, 2019, at 10:30 a.m.
