Chance Lynn Weidman

Chance L. Weidman died of a gunshot wound last Thursday night in Great Falls at the tender age of 19.His family is heartbroken at losing their beloved son and will miss him terribly for the rest of their lives.They will especially miss his sense of humor and smirky, impish grin.Anyone who was around Chance knew he loved to joke around, make funny faces, and make people laugh. Chance attended CM Russell High School and studied welding at Job Corp.He was a quick learner and highly intelligent with extraordinary knowledge of most subjects.He was also very good at solving puzzles and he loved to dismantle and reassemble gadgets. He lived his life with a smile on his face, eagerly awaiting the next adventure and was always happy to meet new people.He loved skateboarding, animals, the card game “Magic,” listening to music and singing songs, outdoor adventures, catching crawdads, and making jokes.Some of his favorite foods included beef and brussels sprouts, and his favorite colors were green and blue. He enjoyed fishing and shooting with his dad and hunting for Christmas trees, doing Snapchat filters and cooking with his mom, watching the Rifleman with his grandpa, and helping his grandma tend to the chickens, especially the baby chicks.When Chance was 14, we had a little chick named Goofy Gilmore who resembled Chance, so Chance’s big brother Alex nicknamed him “Gilmore.” Chance had incredible eyesight.It was as if he had x-ray vision because he could easily spot teeny, tiny objects that most of us can’t see.He could find a needle in a haystack without effort.He also had a natural ability to act in front of a camera.He just seemed to know the right things to say and the right way to present himself. Chance always anticipated the next big event.He couldn’t wait until he grew taller than his grandma, and then taller than his oldest brother.He couldn’t wait to be 16, and then 18, and then living on his own.His excitement was infectious and those closest to him will miss his enthusiasm and laughter that he brought into our lives. Chance is survived by his parents, Kyle and Sumer Weidman; his siblings, Alex Weidman, Dominic Bronson, Jared Bronson, Kodda Weidman, and Savannah Cadieux; his grandparents, Steve and Scarlet Weidman, Ron Denney and Rhonda Sage; his uncle Keith and aunt Lacey Weidman; and numerous cousins. Chance was loved by many people and his family wants to thank everyone for their loving support and especially to the people who started the memorial at the skate park.Special thanks to Shawn Hertel, Amy Bates, and Jaymi Patch for their immense love, deeply loyal friendship, and incredible support during this tragic time. Chance’s Celebration of Life will be held at the Riverside Railyard Skate Park in Great Falls on Saturday, March 28, 2020 at noon to 1:00, followed by a luncheon at 2901 1st Ave S, Great Falls.
