Charlette Woods

May 29, 1947 — January 18, 2018

Charlette L. Woods, 70, of Black Eagle, passed peacefully to her final reward on Thursday,January 18, 2018 after a two-year battle with health issues. Several family members were present to surround her with love as she made her final transition. Charlette Louise Gross was born May 29, 1947 to John and Catherine Gross of Missoula, Montana. She was the sixth of eight children that would live to adulthood. Charlette graduated from Sacred Heart in 1965. She met the love of her life, David Woods, while in high school and they were married October 9, 1965. Together they added five children to their family and remained married and devoted to each other until David’s death in October of 2015. Charlette enjoyed many things in her life, one of which was hunting and fishing with David. As their family grew, Charlette rarely went hunting, but enjoyed any wild game or fish her husband would bring home. She enjoyed making clothes for her girls and fixing their hair. By the time their fifth child, a son, arrived, Charlette no longer made clothes, but enjoyed simply being with her kids. In her spare time, she taught CCD every Tuesday night for many years, which often allowed her to have one or more of her own children in her classes. Charlette also enjoyed crochet, cross stitch projects, puzzle books and reading. Charlette made the transition to working mom in the early 1980s to help provide for her family. She did many jobs including childcare, house cleaning, and food preparation until she and David moved from Missoula to Livingston. While living in Livingston, Charlette first worked at Ben Franklin, and later made the decision to join David working for Loaf ‘n’ Jug. They were still working for the company when they moved to Great Falls several years later. Charlette worked at those convenience stores for many more years and became an assistant manager. Eventually, she moved on and worked in several small casinos around town until October of 2015. The last two years of her life, Charlette took great joy in awaiting the arrival of her youngest grandchild, who was born in her birthday month. She enjoyed watching her new granddaughter grow and develop her sweet little personality. Charlette became a great grandmother in August 2017 and was overjoyed when she meet her great grandson in October. Charlette was preceded in death by her husband David, her parents, and two brothers. She is survived by her children, Judy(John) States of Scobey, Debbie (Charlie) Duncan of Missoula, Kathy (Shawn) Frisbie of Great Falls, Angie (Russ) McGillis of Livingston, Brian (Natalie) Woods of Black Eagle; her grandchildren, Dani (Boyce) Urdahl and Doug States of Scobey, David Hall of Great Falls, Kris Woods of Great Falls, Phillip and Shondel Robinson of Livingston, Tyler and Jacob Woods of Stevensville, Mackayla Woods of Black Eagle; and her great grandson, Harvey Urdahl of Scobey. Private family services took place Friday, January 19, 2018 at Schnider Funeral Home in Great Falls. Cremation took place shortly thereafter. Charlette wished to have her ashes mingled with David’s and spread at one of their favorite hunting locales on a mountaintop in western Montana. The family asks that anyone wishing to do so may donate gifts in Charlette and David’s memory to the Forestry Department at the University of Montana – Missoula or to DaVita’s Dialysis Unit of Great Falls. Condolences for the family may be left online at www.SchniderFuneralHome.com.
