Cheryl Anne McKenney, 32, of Missoula, passed away peacefully on Monday, Nov. 7, 2016 at home surrounded by family after a long illness.Cheryl was born Nov. 17, 1983 in Great Falls, Montana. She attended Our Lady of Lourdes School and C. M. Russell High School before moving to Missoula and graduating from Big Sky High School. She went on to attend the University of Montana.Cheryl had a strong work ethic and great customer service relations. She enjoyed working in the family businesses and at a young age would work weekends with her mother at Fun Factory Pizza. After her college years, she helped her father manage Legends Sports Pub & Grill and finally the Cart Wheel Casino. She had a natural entrepreneurial aptitude and dreamed of owning her own business.Cheryl was a devoted Broncos fan and loved to trash talk with her brother, Nick and dad when they played the Patriots. Nick surprised her with a trip to Denver to watch the Broncos live. This would be her last big adventure that she enjoyed tremendously.She shared a passion for animals with her sister, Katie. Her pets were members of the family.Cheryl also enjoyed outdoor activities and especially being on the water, whether Jet skiing, rafting or fishing local waterways with family and friends. She had a few fish and snake stories to tell that she experienced while enjoying the outdoors throughout her life.Cheryl was known for being strong willed, tough, and feisty. She stood up for what was right even if she had to stand alone. She touched the lives of many people in countless ways.She is survived by her mother, Brandy McKenney (Gary) of Missoula; father Joe McKenney (Dawn) of Great Falls; sister Katie; brother Nick (Brandy); nieces Chatelle, Orchid, and Milana; step brothers Sean and Patrick; plus numerous other relatives.A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel.
