Darell Edwin Dougherty lost his battle with cancer and congestive heart failure on March 11, 2021. Darell was born May 12, 1940 in Twin Falls, Idaho to Clinton and Lillian Dougherty. He grew up on the family farm south of Filer and thought he would be a farmer until it was determined that he had an allergy to dirt. Darell graduated from Filer High School and continued his education at Idaho State College, School of Electrical Technology. He served his entire working career in the Federal Aviation Agency based mainly at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls, Montana. As a teenager, Darell had a passion for customizing cars and spent hours removing trim and refinishing his 1949 orange Chevy. Being raised on a dairy farm, he took his turn at milking cows as well as spending hours on the tractor planting, cutting, and baling. He was also involved in Boy Scouts and 4-H. While in Pocatello, he met and married Vicky Jones. They had two children, Michael and Julie. They enjoyed supporting their children's sports activities and coached softball for many years. Darell enjoyed boating, fishing, and bowling, but he was an avid golfer. He was married to Vicky for 34 years before she passed away. Darell then married Ann Throckmorton. They spent a wonderful 24 years together. They enjoyed going to Griz football games, traveling and golfing together. In his last days, he was still trying to figure out how he would be able to golf in the spring. Darell was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Vicky; great granddaughter, Sharlene Rae; and brother-in-law, David Randolph. He is survived by his wife, Ann; son, Mike (Kitty); daughter, Julie Hunt (Steve); grandsons, Tyler and Brian (Clairissa) Hunt; granddaughters, Sara Hunt, Jessica, and Jenna Dougherty; and great-granddaughter, Stella; sister, Darlene Dougherty Randolph; brother, Gary (Martha); two nieces; and several great-nieces and nephews.
