David Doran was born October 1, 1948 in Fort Collins, Colorado to Michael Patrick Doran and Joyce Bowcutt Doran. His family moved to Great Falls, Montana where his father, Pat, was a well-known vet in the Great Falls community, and it was there that he developed his love for animals and the outdoors. His family enjoyed spending much time at Logging Creek. Dave attended school in Great Falls and graduated from Great Falls High School in 1966. Dave was quite the sportsman, playing basketball, baseball and football. One of the highlights of his sports career was playing in a baseball tournament in Alaska.Upon graduating, Dave went to California, in which he went to flight school in Palm Springs and obtained his pilots license. He lived and worked in California until he joined the Peace Corps and went to Peru. After leaving the Peace Corps, he started his college career in Missoula at the University of Montana. He also attended the University of Puget Sound and the University of Great Falls. He obtained a bachelors degree in history and a paralegal degree.Dave married Sally Beedle in March of 1986. In 1988, his first child, Erin, was born. Soon after, Sean was born in 1989. Five years later, Ryan was born in 1994. Dave enjoyed taking his kids to Logging Creek, watching them play sports and music programs. He always took them to see the Blue Angels when they were in town, due to his love of planes and flying.Dave enjoyed playing golf, watching the horse races and baseball games, photography, walking along the Rivers Edge Trail, and was always proud of his Irish heritage and could tell a story along with the best of them.He was a member of the local Shriners and Masonic Temple. Dave will always be remembered for his sense of humor and great knowledge. He will be missed by his many friends and his family.Dave is survived by wife, Sally Beedle; his children, Erin, Sean and Ryan Doran; granddaughter Paisley Volk; his brothers, Mike (Colleen) Doran and Dan (Julie) Doran; and sisters Jan (Jerry) Hagen and Katy (Doug) Kuntz.He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael Patrick Doran and Joyce Bowcutt Doran.
