Dennis Hammer

Dennis A. Hammer, 72, of Great Falls passed away Friday October 7, 2016 from injuries sustained during a fall.A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at the Great Falls Association of Realtors located at 401 13th Ave S from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Schnider Funeral Home.Dennis was born May 23, 1944 in Conrad, Montana and raised in Valier, Montana. He graduated from Valier High School in 1962 and joined the United States Air Force. He was stationed in Berlin, Germany at Tempelhof Air Force Base for a short period. After returning to the states, he was honorably discharged from the Air Force and started his life long career at Northwest Airlines in 1967, after a dedicated 38 years he retired in 2005.After his retirement Dennis spent his time tending to his beloved garden, found his love of cooking, traveling with his wife Lori and spending time with his four legged friends Kacey, Max and Jiggs. In 2015, he was blessed with his first grandchild Camden, who stole his heart the first time he laid eyes on him.Dennis is survived by his wife of 29 years, Lori Hammer of Great Falls; daughter Alecia (Zach and Camden) Gloege of Great Falls; and brothers Jon Hammer and Gary Hammer both of Colorado.He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Helen; brothers Donald and Mike; and sister Judy.
