Dion Lynn Hager, aged 80, of Fairfield, MT, passed away on September 26, 2026, from natural causes related to complications from cancer.

Dion was the second child born to Ramaldus and Magdalen Hager on February 25, 1946, in Rugby, ND. He attended Greenfield Elementary School and graduated with the class of 1964 from Fairfield High School. He attended Carroll College in Helena, and the University of Montana in Missoula, and in 1971 graduated from Mount Hood Community College in Gresham, Oregon, with a degree in mortuary science. Upon graduation he was employed at Whiteside Funeral Home in Aberdeen, Washington. He later returned to the Hager family farm where he was engaged in agriculture for nearly 40 years. During those years he also worked part-time for Banks Funeral Home in Choteau, MT and the Chapel of Chimes RC in Great Falls, MT. In 1970, Dion married Sharon Smith and they raised 2 sons, Justin and Jordan on the farm in the Fairfield area.

Dion was an active member of the Montana National Guard and was given an honorable discharge after 17 1/2 years of service. He later married Shirley Dickhoff in 2022, moving to Chehalis, WA. Dion had a great sense of humor. He loved to sing, dance and do woodworking as a hobby, creating many beautiful wood pieces.

Surviving are sons, Justin (Kyle) Hager of Great Falls, MT, and Jordan (Kim) Hager of Austin, TX; his three grandchildren, Dane, Dylan and Emerson Hager. Other survivors are his sister, Collette Neuman (Skip) of Power, MT; brother, Mike Hager of Fairfield; foster sister, Shirley Brillhart of Huntley, MT.; and Shirley Dickhoff Hager of Chehalis, WA.; a nephew; and several nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Linda Hager.

Graveside services will be held in Fairfield, MT, at a later date.
