Doreen Brown

September 18, 1926 — April 11, 2018

Doreen R. Brown, 91, of Great Falls and Hamilton, passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2018. Services will be held at a later date. Schnider Funeral Home will be handling the service. Doreen was born on September 18, 1926 in North Borsham, England to Sydney and Rose Woods. She worked at a college in Norwich during the war in Norfolk County. She would ride her bike to and from work and sometimes she would have to go to a bomb shelter during air raids. She said it was a very stressful time. She married Milford Wellington in 1945 and they later divorced. She then married Francis Brown. She was a loving, hardworking wife and devoted mother to Mal, Jim, Brenda, and Paul. Her youngest son, Paul was tragically killed in a car accident in Houston on April 30, 1973. Doreen moved to the United States and proudly became a US Citizen on April 26, 1957 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She moved her family to Great Falls and went to work at the Children’s Receiving Home until she fell which made her decide to retire at the young age of 89. In the end, she was tired, suffering from congestive heart failure and renal shut down. She leaves behind a legacy of hard work, determination, and honesty. She will be missed by her family. Rest in peace, Doreen you deserve it. She loved her dogs and of course they had to be Scotties. Roy was her last pet here on earth and his ashes will be interred with her. She also loved yellow roses and any blue flower. Actually anything that was blue. It was her favorite color. Doreen is survived by her daughter, Brenda; sons Mal and James; daughter-in-law Connie; brothers and sisters in England; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Francis; and son Paul.
