Doris Harris

Doris June (Talvi) Harris, 81, of Great Falls, passed away Monday, August 1, 2016 after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer, COPD & congestive heart failure in her family home.A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel with a celebration of life to follow. Schnider Funeral Home is handling the arrangementsDoris was born July 18, 1935 in Belt, Montana to Edward and Selma Talvi. She was raised on the family ranch alongside her brother, Russell and two sisters, Betty and Pearl. Doris moved to Great Falls in 1953, after graduating from Belt Valley High School where she began work for Ma Bell. She met and married Donald Don Harris in 1957. They had one son, Dave, and a daughter, Debbe. Don was an entrepreneur who often needed Doris quick wit and level head to ground him and insure that their life savings not be spent.Don and Doris began their lifelong career at H & H Coins in 1965, and eventually moved to their permanent location known to all of the locals as His & Hers Coins and Cards (Stamps/Collectibles).Doris is survived by her son and his wife, Dave and Jene (Mesler) Harris of Great Falls; daughter Debbe Harris of Great Falls; grandchildren Nicole Harris of Great Falls and Darla (Harris) and Adam Schaap of Holland, MI; great-granddaughters Brooklynne Harris of Great Falls and Izzy and Sawyer Schaap of Holland, MI; and a small group of incredible friends throughout the Belt and Great Falls areas.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings.Donations can be made to the Sletten Cancer Institute or a charity of the donors choice.
