Dorothy Kjeldahl, 88, long-time resident of Cut Bank, Montana, passed away peacefully December 21, 2016 surrounded by her two sons, two of her six grandchildren, her stepdaughter and husband and two step-grandchildren at Benefis Hospital in Great Falls, Montana.Dorothy, the only child of Henry and Doris Shafer, was born in Pendleton, Oregon on January 31, 1928. After graduating from Pendleton High School she worked as a bank teller at the First National Bank in Pendleton where she met her future husband, operations manager Merlin Bud Wagoner. Dorothy began her 58 year Cut Bank residency in 1957, when her husband was transferred to the former Bank of Glacier County.After Bud passed away in 1983, she married Walter Kjeldahl of Cut Bank, Montana in 1986 who passed in 2007.Dorothy worked as a teacher's aide in the Cut Bank "public" schools, and later worked as a dental assistant to Dr. William Jones DDS. She was a socially active woman involved in Bridge Club, PEO, the Presbyterian Church including both the Mariners Club and in her later years the eldership of the Church, the Sons of Norway, Lions Club, and served on the board of Cut Banks Senior Center. She will be remembered for her vivacious and outgoing personality, as well as her love for life, and her deep love of friends.She is survived by sons, Gerald (Mari) Wagoner of Brooklyn, NY, Michael (Terry) Wagoner of Pullman, WA; step aughter Barb (Keith) Larson of Cut Bank, MT; and grandchildren Rachel Isitt of Pullman, WA, Sarah (Ron) Norman of Nine Mile Falls, WA, Anna (Jason) Thomas of Hartline, WA, Michael David Wagoner of Pullman, WA, Kai Wagoner-Oshima and Yasu Wagoner-Oshima both of Brooklyn, NY; her step-grandchildren Jill (Steve) Burger and Brian (Lisa) Larson both of Helena, MT; also survived by four great-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren.A "public" memorial service will be held Friday, December 30, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Cut Bank, Montana. A luncheon reception in the church basement will follow.
