Dorothy Mcgee

On November 12, 2016 Dorothy McGees spirit was set free and peacefully carried away on a gust of wind to her Lords home.Dorothy was born a twin in June 1917, in Caldwell, Idaho. She grew up with and married her childhood friend and soulmate, Keane McGee in 1939. She supported Keanes careers beginning with his WWII service through his US Postal service positions in Caldwell and then moving to Great Falls in 1966, until his passing in 1973.Dorothy was active in the League of Women Voters of Idaho. She was a modern woman and an advocate of the Civil and Womens rights movements. She worked in the library in Caldwell and then in Great Falls, where she was the film librarian for the State Library. She retired in 1979 at the age of 62. She kept fit by swimming. She was an avid reader and a member of the 20th Century book club. She was an excellent Bridge player and a member of the Great Falls Duplicate Bridge Club. She bowled and played golf. She was a member of the Great Falls Flower Growers and a lifetime member of Eastern Star.Her Episcopal church family and friends were of great importance to her. Dorothy was always volunteering in church activities. She volunteered for FISH, and was there the day before her stroke. A life full of sacrifice and service to the end. Her lifes motto was, Always be mindful of the needs of others!Dorothy is survived by her children, Keane McGee Jr. (Rose Marie), Cheryl Milley (Allen) and William McGee (Lee Anne Gills); sister Betty Harrah (James); grandchildren David McGee, Katie McGee Rae (Sean), Aric Milley and Megan Colson (Daniel); and great grandchildren, Ezra, Eden and Levi Colson.She is preceded in death by her husband, Keane; parents Clarence and Anna Purkhiser; brothers Herman and Clarence Purkhiser; and twin sister Carrie Wojcik.Dorothy was grateful for all the love and kindness she received while residing at Benefis Care Facilities during her illness these past years.A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at the Episcopal Church of Incarnation.In lieu of flowers, donations to the FISH program, PO Box 662, Great Falls, MT 59403 are suggested.
