E. Grant Hodges

March 10, 1925 — April 9, 2018

Eldon Grant Hodges, 93, of Great Falls, passed away on April 9, 2018. At his request no services are planned. Schnider Funeral Home handled the arrangements. Grant was born March 10, 1925, in Great Falls. His parents were William C. and Gertrude M. (Galitzeck) Hodges. He attended Great Falls public schools. He left school to work for the 7th Ferrying Group in a depot at the Montana State Fairgrounds in Great Falls. He joined the Army Air Force in 1943 and was stationed in Italy and North Africa. After the war he returned to Great Falls and began working at the Great Falls Air Force Base. He worked there in Base Supply and the Traffic Management Office until he retired in January 1983. Grant married Helen Louise Langstock on August 2, 1946, and together they had four sons. Grant enjoyed stream fishing, gardening, and spending time with his grandkids. He volunteered over 7000 hours at the Deaconess, now Benefis Skilled Nursing Home. He also enjoyed hosting many weddings, receptions and family reunions at their home on the Missouri River. He is survived by three sons, Jim (Teresa) Hodges of Great Falls, Dean (Jeniel) Hodges of Billings, and Daryl Hodges of Great Falls; five grandchildren, Jill, Heidi, Clark, Emily and Sam; sister Patricia (Jerry) Mollerstuen of Centralia, WA; brother Wade Hodges of Great Falls; brother-in-law Fred Dawson of Casper, WY; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife on October 20, 2012; son Raymond in 1962; his parents; his sister, Helen (Fred) Dawson in 2008; and two brothers, Harold Hodges in 2015 and Bill Hodges in 2016. His family thanks all the employees at Highgate Senior Living for the excellent loving care they provided.
