Edith Louise Margarete Schneider

Edith Louise Margarete Schneider, 87, of Great Falls, passed away Monday, April 9, 2018. Visitation will be Thursday, April 12, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Schnider Funeral Home. A graveside service will be Friday, April 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Highland Cemetery. Schnider Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Edith Louise Wallenfels was born on March 18, 1931 in Rendel-Krs.Friedberg, Germany to Johann and Louise (Vogel) Wallenfels along with five other brothers and sisters. Growing up poor during the war years, she held many jobs to help out her family, ultimately, perfecting her sewing skills. In 1951, she married Walter Schneider. In 1958, they migrated to the US, as he was a sponsored electrician to Rainbow Electric in Great Falls. She worked for JC Penney until 1964, when their daughter was born. Staying at home to raise her daughter, she later returned to work for Kaufmans Men’s Wear, retiring in 1992. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, embroidery, and in her later years, word searches and puzzles. Edith is survived by her husband, Walter Schneider of Great Falls; daughter Angie (Tom) Schneider-Broden of Belgrade; and sisters Gertrude Ganss and Anni Hofmann both of Germany.
