Edwin Paul Emery, 89, of Great Falls, passed away peacefully of natural causes at Peace Hospice Monday, August 11, 2014. He resided at the Eagles Manor in Great Falls.A celebration of life will be Thursday, August 14, 2014, 2:00 p.m. at Eagles Manor. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Schnider Funeral Home.Paul was born in Santa Paula, CA on June 20, 1925, to Edwin Emery Sr. and Patricia Emery (Henderson). He was raised in California and New Mexico. He married Marge Schilling on November 19, 1945, while home on leave. They were married for 69 years and had 3 children.A WWII, U.S. Navy veteran, Paul enlisted on June 20, 1942, his 17th birthday. He was honorably discharged in 1945. He served on the U.S.S Robert E. Peary, the U.S.S Joseph P. Kennedy Jr., and possibly the U.S.S. Maddox.He and Marge lived in Pico Rivera, CA. He worked for Douglas Aircraft in Long Beach, CA for many years, until his retirement in 1982. At that time they went on the road and visited all 50 states during several years of RV travel. Paul was a volunteer Boy Scout leader for many years and a Wood Badge graduate. He was an Amateur Radio Operator, call sign N7UHJ.Paul is survived by his wife Marjorie; Paulette (Jerry) Lynn; Collette (Ken) Wolfslau; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his son Douglas Emery.
