Evelyn Marie Field

August 18, 1924 — April 4, 2020

Evelyn Field, 95, was born August 18, 1924, to James Henry and Lillian May (Christie) Rowhuff near New Hampton, Missouri. She passed away on April 4, 2020, after a short illness. Evelyn attended Shady Dell Country School and graduated valedictorian from McFall High in 1941. She graduated from Central Business College in Kansas City and worked as a secretary for Easter Seals, War Production Board, Helzberg's Jewelry, and City National Bank. She even taught school at Victor Country School for two years during the war when teachers were in short supply. In 1951, she came to Montana to marry Roy Field. To this union, three children were born. She was a career farm and ranch wife. She did chores, fed many, including hired men, and took meals to the field during harvest. Her homemade pies were unrivaled! She liked to grind homegrown wheat for baking. She was an accomplished seamstress and quilter, and loved to embroider. Evelyn is survived by her three children, Linda (Warren) Smith, Sharon Jo (Darryll) Thackeray, and Ron Field; 12 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. Her family would like to thank the staff of the Clover Home for their loving care. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Rosalie; and husband, Roy. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2020, at Manchester Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Schnider Funeral Home.
