Fairfield

George L. Larson, Sr., passed away on October 15, 2026, following a brief illness, surrounded by family at the Great Falls Clinic Hospital.

George was born January 17, 1932, to Martin and Louella Larson at Terry, Montana. He was the sixth of nine children. He lived at Terry until 1938, when the family moved to the Fairfield Bench. He lived at the original homestead until his passing. The farm is now in the third generation.

George attended school in Fairfield. During and after school, he worked on the farm and held various other jobs. He retired from the Fairfield Co-op and was still active working on the farm with his son, George, Jr.

In 1976, he married Karen Gregg and they had one son and one daughter. He adopted Karen’s two daughters. George and Karen were later divorced.

George was a wonderful family member and friend. If someone needed help, he was always willing. George was a quiet and humble man with a marvelous sense of humor. He was adored by his many nieces and nephews.

Raising cattle was his passion, and he had a love of horses. In earlier years, he liked bowling, was involved in FFA judging and had been active in the Fairfield Saddle Club.

George was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Blanche (Jim) Ballantyne, Ida (Don) Alfson; brothers, Earl, Dan (Ruby), Vernon (Mary Ann), and Art (Verna); sister-in-law, Sharon; and special friend, Karen Flynn.

He is survived by his son, George, Jr.; daughters, Karla, Kim Black and Kris Wright; several grandchildren; and great grandchildren.

At his request, there will be no funeral services. Cremation has taken place by Schnider Funeral Home. His wish is to have his ashes scattered on the family farm.
