George Carlton Malin

George Malin, 79, of Great Falls, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, August 28, 2020. A private memorial service for family and friends will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2020,at 1:00 p.m. graveside at Highland Cemetery with military honors. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Wanda; children, Michelle (Kevin) Ferguson, Kevin (Jean) Malin, Todd Malin, Amy (Bill) Carmichael, and Gracie (Lance) Beto; 10 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brothers, Clifford Malin and Tim Malin; sister, Heidi (Herb) Snyder; and sister-in-law, Betty Malin. He was preceded in death by his parents and older brother, Richard. George was born on July 20, 1941, in Vallejo, California to Curtis and Norma Malin. He enlisted in the Navy and served three years traveling the world and experiencing many ports. He then returned to serve another eight years in the Naval Reserves. He attended Northern Montana College in Havre and Carroll College in Helena in the pre-med programs. He decided to return to college online and received a BA in Business from the University of Michigan. He was employed by Montana Power Company in the late 1960s, when he decided to take a job as a welder for the Great Falls Gas Company (Energy West) in 1971, and moved his family to Great Falls. He retired from Energy West where he was a Vice President and Superindent of Operations. George was a member of the Elks Club and Redeemer Lutheran Church. When George was younger he enjoyed golfing, fishing, and playing softball with the team from Great Falls Gas Co. After he retired, he especially liked to garden and cook. He had every gadget ever invented in his kitchen. He loved to watch his grandchildren play sports. They always knew when Grandpa George was in the stands, as his cheering could always be heard. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Great Falls Police Community Foundation or the Montana Council, Boy Scouts of America.
