Gilbert Ross Floyd, 87, of Great Falls, died on Sunday, September 22, 2013, at Peace Hospice.At his request, no services will be held. Cremation has taken place. A private family memorial service will take place at a later date.Ross was born March 18, 1926, in Woodrow, Saskatchewan, Canada. He was raised in Opheim, Montana, attending schools in Opheim and graduated Opheim High School. He then attended Great Falls Commercial College.Ross entered the US Army during WWII in 1944 and was honorably discharged in 1946.He worked most of his life with the Montana Employment Service and retired in 1988.He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 1087.He enjoyed fishing and camping.He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Floyd of Great Falls; daughter Melissa Wisnesky of NC; Sons David Floyd of Missoula, Gilbert Floyd of Great Falls and Tom Floyd of Pasco, WA; stepdaughter Becky Dowell of Great Falls, Linda Rooney of Cut Bank, Sue Stevens of Lewistown, Deborah Fox of Barryton, MI and Angels Basurto of Tucson; stepsons Barry Garber of Great Falls, Daniel Floyd of CO, Jarl Garber of Great Falls and Bob Rooney of Cut Bank; numbers grandchildren, great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and brother, Kenneth Floyd of Opheim, MT.Ross was preceded in death by a son, Gary Floyd; infant daughter, Susan Floyd; brother Robert Floyd; his parents; stepson John Rooney and stepdaughter Kathy Carter.Memorials are suggested to Peace Hospice, 1101 26th St S, Great Falls, MT 59405; Great Falls Rescue Mission, 326 2nd Ave S, Great Falls, MT 59401; or charity of donors choice.
