Grace G. (Smiley) Gruenhagen, 88, of Great Falls, passed away August 8, 2016 at a local care facility.Visitation will be Monday August 15, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Schnider Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel with burial to follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Schnider Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.Grace was the daughter of C.E. and Grace G. (Taylor) Smiley and was born May 23, 1928 in Great Falls and raised with her brothers, Vernon A., Lloyd W. and Richard S. Smiley on the family ranch in the Eden area about 25 miles south of Great Falls.She completed grades 1 through 8 at Boston Coulee Grade School and graduated from Great Falls High with the class of 1946. Distance to town required Grace to acquire room and board during high school years with families in Great Falls which included the Ludwigs and Petersons.Grace worked part time for the Cascade Chapter of the American Red Cross, which turned into a 42 year career, retiring in 1988 after 32 years of continuous service.Grace married Robert D. Wardinsky, who was a switchman for the Great Northern Railway in 1949, and they spent 44 years together until he passed away in 1992.Grace married Arthur H. (Bud) Gruenhangen on June 11, 2000. They enjoyed traveling in the Great Falls area until their health failed.Grace is survived by her brother, Richard (Billy Carol) Smiley of Great Falls; nieces Dickie Carol Smiley of Kennewick, WA, Nancy Smith of Great Falls, and Elaine Smiley of WA, Betty Ann of Missoula, and Rhonda Umphrus of Great Falls, Kathy (Glen) Stewart of Ft. Benton, and Kim TeSelle of Bozeman; nephew Scott Smiley of Colorado; and sisters-in-law Joan L. Smiley and Joan M. Smiley both of Great Falls.She was preceded in death by her brothers, Vernon and Lloyd Smiley.
