Harold Alton Warehime

On March 4, 2020, Harold Alton Warehime, surrounded by loving family, joined his wife of 71 years, Ramona, in eternal heaven. Due to COVID-19, a private family service will be held at O'Connor Memorial Chapel on Monday, March 23, 2020. A public burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Stanford Cemetery with military honors in Stanford. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Harold was born to Chris and Blanche Warehime on August 24, 1924 in Cascade. He was the youngest of 7 children: Glenn, Lester, Carl, Fern, Johnny, Dorothy and Harold. At 18 months of age, Harold went to live with Peck and Vera Warehime who legally adopted him at the age of 17.Even as a child, Harold was an adventurer. By age 6, he was riding his horse to school unsupervised. In 1943, at the age of 19, Harold enlisted in the Navy. He was stationed at Farragut Navy Training Station near Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. He was honorably discharged, in 1946, as a Pharmacist’s First Mate. Harold married Ramona Warehime (Proper) on June 2, 1949 at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church. They had three children: Ted (Kathy) Warehime of Minot, ND, Sherry (Clay) Berger of Glasgow, and Roxanne (Larry) Berg of Judith Gap. Harold and Ramona spent 66 beautiful years together. Their life began in a little trailer in Pendroy, Montana, while Harold worked for Tom Staunton Construction. In 1951 Harold and Ramona went to work at the O’Day Ranch near Great Falls. They later moved to Square Butte, where they both worked for the Sullivan Cattle Company. Harold was promoted to foreman while working for the Strand Ranch, formerly the Sullivan Ranch, where he worked for 22 years. In 1978, they moved to Stanford after purchasing The Sundown Inn Supper Club. They happily retired in 1988. Harold served on the Square Butte Water Board, Square Butte School Board, and the Geraldine and Square Butte Fire Board and Ambulance. He taught Hunter Safety for seven years and was a member of the Stanford Commercial Club and the Stampede Club. The C.M. Russell Stampede Club dedicated the 1986 Rodeo to Harold, honoring him with their official belt buckle. In his spare time, Harold was found on the golf course, fishing, bird watching, and enjoying martinis “toonies” with his friends. Harold was preceded in death by his birth parents, Chris and Blanche Warehime, and his adoptive parents Peck and Vera Warehime, his wife Ramona, brothers Glenn, Lester, Carl, and Johnny, and his sisters Dorothy and Fern. He is survived by his children; six grandchildren, Mark (Johanna Vasseur) Berger, Amanda (Jason) Warehime Isaak, Debra (Tyler Mills) Berger, Alex (Matt) Warehime Kosanda, Trent Berg, and Trevor (Brittany) Berg; four great-grandchildren, Logan Isaak, Ellie Kosanda, Brodie Isaak and Emmy Kosanda, along with many caring friends.
