On August 23, 2016, God called his faithful servant Helen Johnson to her rest.A vigil service will be Friday, August 26, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Marks Catholic Church in Belt. A funeral liturgy will be Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. also at St. Marks. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery in Belt. Schnider Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.Helen Joan Johnson was born was born on June 2, 1937 in Belt, Montana to Alex and Mary Darko where she was also raised. She worked for a short time in 1968 with social services. She also worked with the Belt School District and retired in 2001.She married Marlin K. Johnson from Ladysmith, Wisconsin on December 4, 1954 in Stanford, Montana. They were married for 62 years. They had seven daughters, Linda (Mick Seaton) Johnson of Moccasin, Debra (Jim) Hoxter of Monarch, Lori (Bob) Feist of Helena, Ruth (Roscoe) Sanborn of Belt, Peggy (Ricky) Triplett of Great Falls, Joyce (Joe) Konesky of Sand Coulee, and Janet (John) Lesofski of White Sulphur Springs.Mom loved to crochet, garden, play bingo and poker machines, and fishing. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Womens Auxiliary. She truly loved her family and grandkids.Helen is survived by her husband; seven children; 21 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; sister Cathy Parker; brother Tom Darko; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.She was preceded in death by her sisters, Margaret, Barbra, and Marie; brother Frank; grandchildren Gina Sanborn and Scott Scooter Johnson. Grandchild Scott Scooter Johnson, son of Peggy Johnson McDonald Triplett, will be honored at the burial.Donations may be made to the VFW of Belt or a charity of your choice.
