There will be a funeral service at O’Connor Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, September 30, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. Hugh Holman, 74, of Great Falls, MT, passed away on September 22, 2020, near Fort Shaw, MT. He was born in Great Falls on February 23, 1946, to parents Orville Kenneth Holman and Laurel Dean (Gruel) Holman. He has one living, older brother, Kenneth, with sister-in-law Paula. His youngest brother, Douglas, and only sister, Peggy, have already passed on. He attended Great Falls High School and a couple years at Billings, MSU. Along with his father, Orville, he was also a member of the Masonic Temple. Hugh met Gayle Lorraine Maffit in high school and were married shortly afterwards. Together they had two children, Theil Ann Holman and Steven Brett Holman, both living. After about 30 years, they parted amiably, and still remained very close, with an intact family, visiting often and having meals together many times a week. Hugh was born to be a farmer, having had farms near Great Falls and Havre, and was mechanically inclined from a very early age. As a naturally ambitious person, he conducted custom farming operations with his family, heavy-hauling and general repair services. During his working career he also worked for Hilde Construction, United Materials and a few others, as a welder/mechanic, truck driver or fabricator, when he could to earn extra. He always put money away for his family and was generous with his help.
