John Edwin Husby

April 22, 1926 — January 25, 2021

John Edwin Husby, 94, passed away on Monday, January 25, 2021, at Bee Hive Homes. To coincide with John's wishes, there will be no services and his interment will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery. John was born April 22, 1926, in Sand Coulee to Benjamin and Mary (Greytak) Husby. John married Rosemary Surmi in June of 1949.Together, John and Rosemary made a home in Sand Coulee where they raised their two children. John was a proud, lifelong resident of Sand Coulee, leaving only to serve in WWII, and living briefly in Havre for work. He moved to Bee Hive Homes in the fall of 2016. John enlisted in the Army right after graduating from Centerville High school. Upon his return from the service, he worked for a short time at the Anaconda Company. He then started working for the Great Northern Railway, also known as the Burlington Northern Railway. John retired in 1987 with over 35 years of service. John enjoyed spending time with his family, including picnics in the mountains, traveling to visit his son in Colorado and helping his daughter with many projects. He also loved collecting coins and stamps. He was a member of the Catholic Church in Sand Coulee and in Centerville. A special thanks to Melanie “Mel” and the staff at the Bee Hive Homes for the care given over the last several years. John was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Mary Husby; wife, Rosemary (2019); daughter-in-law, Debbie Husby; sister, Margaret Hess; brothers, Joseph Lopuch and Anthony “Tony” Lopuch. John is survived by his children, Darrell Husby of Greeley, CO, Cheryl (Bill) Keaster of Cascade, MT; grandson, Tell (Becca) Keaster of Cascade, MT; and a number of nieces and nephews.
