Joseph “Joe” Dean Baranko, age 90, of Great Falls, MT passed away August 1, 2026.

Joe was born in Great Falls to Joseph and Edna Baranko in 1936, the youngest of 3 children. He attended grade school in Great Falls and high school in Fairfield through his junior year before joining the US Navy in 1954. He served in Guam and on a Destroyer out of San Diego. After his service in the Navy, he returned to Great Falls and joined the Sheet Metal Workers Union in 1961-1996. Joe also cared for his aging parents until they passed.

He was a member of the Elks Club and bowling league sponsored by Montana Bar. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, leather work, crafting, and being a handyman. Joe had a strong interest and wisdom in guns and cars. He was a generous donor to several charities throughout his years.

Joe was known for his generosity, calm and gentle demeanor, resourcefulness and self-reliance. He will be deeply missed by those who were lucky enough to be a part of his life.

A memorial service for Uncle Joe will be held at a later date.
