June Eileen Gray, 95, passed away Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Peace Hospice. June was born in Dillon, Montana on June 10, 1922 to Elza and Susie (Robbins) Patrick. She grew up in Dillon with her parents and younger brother, Harold. After being active in many school functions including music, school newspaper, National Honor Society and Rainbow Girls, June graduated at sixteen from Beaverhead County High School in 1939. She went on to attend the Butte Business College and was later employed by the Beaverhead County Extension Office. In 1946, June married Norman H. Gray and moved to Seeley Lake and then Missoula where Norman drove lumber trucks. In 1950, they moved to Great Falls where Norman began driving freightliners for Great Northern Railway. June became very active in the local PTAs and Deaconess Hospital Auxiliary “Pink Ladies” as she and Norman raised their four children, Patrick, Sheila, Robin and Teresa. Upon retirement, June joined the ladies at the YWCA Friday Paint-Ins and became an accomplished artist, selling her work at many local art shows. Some of her work included miniatures that were exhibited in Moscow, Russia, at an international miniatures show. In more recent years, June began writing haiku and had work chosen for the annual publication of Frog Pond. June is survived by her daughters, Sheila, Robin (Phil), and Teri; grandchildren Shauna (Dave) Farago, Becky (Mike) McElhenney, and Brian (Kelley) Schruth; as well as nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman; son Patrick; parents Elza and Susie; and brother Harold. In June’s honor, memorials may be sent to the Scottish Rite Childhood Language Disorders Clinic or Peace Hospice, 1101 26th S, Great Falls, MT59405. At June’s request, no funeral services will be held.
