Karen M. (Hereim) Simpson, 75, of Great Falls, passed away Monday, October 3, 2016 at her home after a long battle with a chronic disease.A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Mount Olivet Cemetery, followed by a reception at the family home. Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.Karen was born August 24, 1941 in Livingston, Montana to Christian and Margaret (Garr) Hereim. She was raised in Clyde Park, MT. Karen married Walter D. Simpson on September 13, 1959. They lived in Wilsall and Billings before settling in Great Falls, where they raised their children. She worked alongside Walt in their businesses, the Bantom Grocery Store and Zandys Drive In.Karen enjoyed knitting and sewing, gardening, puzzles and spending time with her loved ones.Karen is survived by her daughters, Carrie (Dean) Brown of Sutton, AK and Valerie Christiaens of Great Falls; son Bill Simpson of Great Falls; 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister Mary Ann Ehret of Henderson, NV; brothers Richard Hereim of Billings and Nels Hereim of Helena; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret (Garr) Nelson and Christian Hereim; husband Walter D. Simpson; daughter Terrie Noya-Richards; and brother Norman Hereim.
