Kenneth Levi Lehman, 73, of Carter, passed away June 3, 2016 after a battle with cancer.A "public" visitation will be held on Friday, June 10, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at Schnider Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Fort Benton at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Joe Jordan officiating. Schnider Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.Kenneth was born to Levi and Mary Lehman, the youngest of three children. He was raised on a ranch in Harrison, ID. After graduating from Kootenai High School, he trained horses with Monte Foreman in Golden, CO, and then rode bareback broncs in rodeos.He married Irene Carpenter on December 25, 1963. They ran the Warming Hut on Mt. Baldy, Sun Valley, then worked on an Appaloosa horse ranch in St. Ignatius, MT. They spent a year working on the Carpenter dairy farm, where their son, Jamie was born.Kenneth worked on a dairy farm in Mud Lake, ID, before moving to Harrison, where they bought a ranch. Their daughters Wendy and Debbie were born there. He supplemented the income by working at St. Maries' Plywood mill before buying logging trucks. He was married to Irene 25 years.In 1990, Kenneth married Debbie Sue Gruwell and they lived on their family farm. After their divorce he worked on the Harrisons ranch in Dillon, MT before moving to Fort Benton where he worked for Maughan Farms. He also worked for the Carter Water District.Ken loved hunting and fishing. He was a cowboy at heart.He is survived by daughters, Wendy (Rob) Truax and Debbie (Ben) Baldwin; grandchildren Tabitha (Robbie) Larson, Jenna Truax, Jessica Hodgeman, Matthew Hodgeman and Jasmine Hodgeman; and sister Lenore (Charlie) Kephart.He was preceded in death by his son Jamie; brother John; and his parents.
