Laura Frances Mattson was born October 12, 1919 in Corvallis, Montana to Grace Symington Mattson and Charles Mattson. Laura died March 18, 2017 in Great Falls, Montana.Laura loved education, graduating from Corvallis High School in 1937 and from the University of Montana in 1941. Laura taught in various schools in Montana and Arizona. After returning to Great Falls, Laura worked at Sacajawea School until her retirement.In 1951, Laura married Web McPherson. They were married almost 66 years. Laura loved traveling and adventures, learning as much as she could about the places she visited such as Alaska and Germany. Laura and Web settled in Great Falls, where they enjoyed friends, family and gardening. Laura was known as the Mayor of Riverview 5 East.Laura and Webs love of music resulted in the establishment of several Dixie Land bands that were comprised of adults and youth. Johnny Mac Band was well known by people in the community. Laura spent many hours volunteering her time planning for band activities. She was a second Mom to many of the kids in the band.Laura was a 50 year member of Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile.Laura is survived by her loving husband, Web; loving nieces and nephews; and special friends, Lynn and Dean Ensley.She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Kenneth Mattson; and son John McPherson.As per Lauras wishes no services will be held. Schnider Funeral Home handled the cremation.
