Lawrence P. Nick Nicola, 81, of Belt, passed away on Friday, April 18, 2014.A graveside service is scheduled for Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Pleasantview Cemetery in Belt. Schnider Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.Nick was born on December 25, 1932 at home in Belt to James and Anna (Maruski) Nicola. He attended school in Belt until the 11th grade joining the Montana Air National Guard for 2 years. He was a certified General Motors Mechanic where he worked at City Chevrolet, a construction worker and finally with Cascade County as a road department operator for 19 years before retiring in 1989.He married Verna Zeiter on September 18, 1954 they had four children together.Nick loved fishing above all else, as well as hunting and watching the New York Yankees as a lifelong fan. He was a friend to all never turning anyone away that needed help of any kind, especially mechanic work. He was also a good cook with his apple pies, smoked fish, and candy. Giving most of it away.He loved his family, teasing them all, and giving a special nickname to most of them. He was a member of St. Marks in Belt.Nick is survived by his wife Verna Nicola of Belt; son Larry Nicola of Belt; daughters Susan Reardon of Great Falls, Tammy Nicola of Port Orchard, WA, and Sherry Roubinek of Belt; sister Louise Antonich of Belt; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers James and Leonard Nicola; sisters Eva Pontet, Juanita Hill, and Cathern Olson.
