Michael Wayne Hines MSGT (retired), 66, of Great Falls, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2016 in his home from complications due to diabetes.A "public" visitation will be held Wednesday, July 20, 2016, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Schnider Funeral Home. Following the visitation will be a graveside service at 11:30 a.m. at Highland Cemetery with Pastor Caldwell officiating followed by full military honors. Schnider Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.Michael was born April 20, 1950 in Houston, Texas. He graduated from Jack Yates Senior High School in 1969 and always introduced himself as being a Texan.In May of 1970, Michael was drafted by the Air Force and spent the majority of his twenty-four years as a security police. His tours included two tours at Clark Airbase in the Philippines,three tours at Malmstrom and a tour at Munitions Support Squadron in Balikesir, Turkey.In 1981, MSGT Hines completed the SAC NCO Academy in the top ten percent of his class. His military awards and decorations included the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal, Outstanding Unit Award with Four Oak Leaf Clusters, Good Conduct Medal with Seven Oak Leaf Clusters, National Defense Service Medal with Star, Overseas Short Tour with One Oak Leaf Cluster and Long Tour Ribbons, Longevity Service Award with Five Oak Leaf Clusters, NCO Professional Military Education Graduate Ribbon with one Oak Leaf Cluster, training ribbon and Philippine Presidential Unit Citation.In February 1994, MSGT Hines retired from the Air Force. He attended college at the University of Great Falls and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a bachelors degree in Human Services. Michael enjoyed reading his bible and growing his faith in the lord. He always helped his family and spent his retired years giving to charity. His grandchildren were his greatest joy, and he loved bragging about them and his children to others, and stuff like that there. Michael is survived by his sisters, Yvonne and Matilda of Houston, TX; son Dennis (Theresa) Hines of Great Falls; daughter Christina (Cisco) Asis of Westampton, NJ and Lourdes (Jereme) Babb of Great Falls; grandson Mateo Asis; and granddaughter Olivia Babb.He was preceded in death by his parents, Martha and Hansford Hines; sisters Selena Mcquertor and Gloria Stoneham; and brother Hanford Hines III.IN LIEU OF FLOWERS THE FAMILY IS ASKING DONATIONS IN MICHAELS NAME TO BE MADE TO THE GREAT FALLS RESCUE MISSION, 326 2ND Ave. S, Great Falls, MT, 59405.
