Nelda Posey-Salonen

Nelda Posey-Salonen, 87, of Great Falls, passed away Saturday, April 21, 2018. A memorial service will be held Friday, April 27, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church. Cremation took place at Schnider Funeral Home. Nelda was born on September 6, 1930 to Adolph and Alma Walen. She grew up on the family farm and attended school in Glenfield, North Dakota. While in school, she played basketball. The family moved around a lot, living in North Dakota, Montana, Oregon, Arizona, and finally back to Montana for good. She worked at a number of banks in Great Falls throughout her adult life until she retired. She married Donald E. Posey and together they had five children, Larry, Linda, Douglas, Connie, and James. After Donald passed away, she met and married Donald Salonen in the summer of 1993. After retiring, she and Donald Posey would go to Arizona for the winter and come back in the spring. After she married Donald Salonen, they traveled together, fished, and visited members of her family and his in a number of states. She enjoyed quilting, counted cross stitch, crocheting, and travel. Nelda was preceded in death by both of her husbands; daughter Connie; brother Milton; and son Larry. She is survived by her daughter, Linda; sons Doug and James; stepson Donald; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and many loving friends. We will miss her very much, and we know she is in a better place!
