Paul Vander Jagt passed away on August 18, 2025, at the age of 90. He was born on April 7, 1935, in Vermillion, South Dakota.
He married Connie Teeple in 1955. They were together for 68 years. They had four children. They moved to Browning, Montana where he worked for his in-laws at Teeples IGA. In 1973, he purchased 2 grocery stores in Bozeman, Montana and later expanded to Billings, Great Falls, Helena, Forsythe, and Dillon. He was once the largest independent retailer in the State of Montana.
He was very active and involved in both the Browning and Bozeman communities. He was awarded one of the top 5 IGA retailers in the U.S. as well as top international retailer. Paul loved his work, family, and friends and lived life to the fullest. He was generous with his time and knowledge to everyone. He mentored and maintained close relationships with many of his employees over the years.
Paul was preceded in death by his son, Rick (2008), and his wife, Connie (2024). He will be deeply missed by his children, Paula Vander Jagt (Kelly Atkins), Leannette Vander Jagt, and Lynnelle Vander Jagt; and grandson, David.
