Paul Damon vanSwearingen, 59, of Great Falls, passed away Sunday, January 1, 2017.Paul was born on September 14, 1957 in Great Falls, Montana to Hugh and Isabel (Kelley) vanSwearingen. He graduated from Great Falls High School in 1975. Paul worked as an automotive machinist at HO Machine Shop and for 21 years as a utility locator.He enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with his grandchildren and driving around town in his 71 GMC truck.Paul is survived by his wife, Shelly of Great Falls; sons Joshua (Audrey) vanSwearingen of Boise, ID, Timothy vanSwearingen of Kalispell and Daniel (Ellie) vanSwearingen of Alaska; step-sons Christopher and Nathan Rolfs both of Great Falls; step-daughter Wendy (Caan) Rolfs-Nguyen of San Jose, CA; sisters Christine vanSwearingen of California, Wini (Juris) Ore of Helena and Vickie (Gerald) Edgar of Maine; brothers Hugh (Janet) (Nancy Marks) vanSwearingen of Townsend and Carle vanSwearingen of California; sisters-in-law Donna and Karen vanSwearingen; and nine grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Thomas and David vanSwearingen.A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel.
