Rachel Irene Crossan, 97, formerly of Glasgow and recently of Great Falls, passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2014 of natural causes.Rachel was born in Illinois to Zina and Edith Manning. She graduated from Nashua High School in 1934. She married Merle Spaulding that year and moved to South Dakota. After his death she and her three children moved back to Glasgow where she began her secretarial career. Rachel worked in Fort Peck at the Farmers Stockgrowers Bank and the Mental Health Clinic in Glasgow. She later married Robert Crossan.Rachel loved to play pinochle and was also known for her divinity candy that she made for special occasions.Rachel is survived by her children, Dorothy (Spaulding) Plouffe of Great Falls and John Spaulding of Clatskanie, OR; sisters Thelma and Lois; and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, Zina and Edith Manning; brothers Roy and Robert Manning; sister Kathryn; and son George Spaulding.No services are planned. Burial will be will be in Glasgow at a later date. Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
