Richard John Motil, 78, of Great Falls, passed away July 16, 2016 at his home after a long illness.A memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel with burial of ashes at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Schnider Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.Richard was born on February 4, 1938 in Great Falls, Montana to John and Mary Motil. He attended school in Stockett and graduated from Centerville High School where he excelled in track. He served in the US Navy and the Navy Reserve for 24 years. He was employed at the Malmstrom Air Force Base commissary and the Cascade County Sheriffs office. He assisted the Snowmobile Club and the Sheriffs office search and rescue units.He married Karen in 1960 and they later divorced. He married Peggy Prindel in 1994.Richard was a member of the local snowmobile club for 13 years, serving in a variety of positions. He was a life member of the Elks Club serving as trustee, chairman, and Elk of the Year. He was also a life member of the Montana Cowboys Association, American Quarter Horse Association, Eagles Aire #14, and the Moose Lodge.He is survived by his wife, Peggy; daughter Debbie Quinby; step-daughter Kari Grams; grandchildren John (Elizabeth) and Steven Quinby, Amanda, John, and Michael Grams; great-grandchildren Taidan, Brooke, and Charlotte; and his many four legged friends, large and small.
