Roland Harris

Roland Kieth Harris passed away on November 26, 2014 at the age of 83.A celebration of his life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel. Burial of ashes will take place at a later date in Idaho.Roland was born in Aberdeen, South Dakota on April 4, 1931 to Vivian and Margaret Harris. He grew up with his three brothers, Russell, Gerald, Jack and sister Janice. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1951, receiving the Navy Occupation Medal and National Defense Medal. After honorably serving in the Korean War until 1954, he then pursued a career in Engineering and achieved a Masters Degree from USC. After working for many years at The Boeing Company, he retired in 1994.Roland is survived by his wife of 50 years, Violet Harris; his 4 children; Mark (Teresa) Harris, Craig Harris, Richard (Alida) Harris, and April (Brett) Harris-Dennis; brothers Jack (Arlette) Harris and Gerald (Sue) Harris; sister Janice (David) Champlin; and was blessed with 7 grandchildren, Amy, Melissa, Matthew, Brandon, Isabella, Allison, and Rafe; and four great-grandchildren, Chase, Evan, Mila and Anthony.Roland was a wonderful man, husband, father, grandfather and brother with a gentle and caring spirit. We will remember him for his fun personality, infectious laugh, strong work ethic, and being our greatest supporter. Roland was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
