Rose Marie Shannon

Rose Marie (Thompson) Shannon, 73, lifelong resident of Great Falls, was escorted by the Angels to her Heavenly home on Saturday, January 21, 2017 with her family by her side.A visitation will be held from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 26, 2017 followed by a vigil at 6:00 p.m. both at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel. The funeral liturgy will be 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 27, 2017 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church with burial to follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Schnider Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.Rose was born to Mary and C.J. Thompson on March 14, 1943 in Great Falls, Montana. She graduated Great Falls Central High class of 61. She worked as a secretary for Hartford Insurance and First Federal Savings before meeting and marrying Richard Shannon in 1963. Together they had three children, Rick, Renae, and Ron.Rose is survived by her children, Rick, Renae (Ron) Munson, and Ron; grandson Matt Whidden; and sister-in-law Darlene Stack.Rose was preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Richard Shannon; parents; and her brother.Rose was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, always putting her family and others first. She was always a very generous person giving whatever she could to help anyone in need. She fought a good fight and finished the race keeping her faith. She battled cancer for 8 years, always being a trooper and never complaining. She always had a positive outlook and liked to cheer up others around her. She worried about everyone else. She was a blessing to those who knew her.
