With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Scott Steinbach, who left us on May 1, 2025, at the age of 61. Though his time with us has ended, the legacy of his love and quiet wisdom will remain with us forever.
Born on March 6, 1964, in Helena, Montana, to Marvin and Verna Steinbach. Scott attended Augusta Public Schools, graduating in 1983. He spent his adolescence participating in wrestling, football, basketball, track, and racing motorcycles. During his senior year of high school, he obtained his private pilot's license and purchased an airplane in 1985 that he co-owned with his father. Following high school, he moved to Helena, where he enrolled in Vocational Tech School in the Fall of 1983 to study auto mechanics. During this time, he met Judy Baeth, who moved back to the Steinbach Ranch with him in the Spring of 1984. In the summer of 1985, Scott and Judy moved to Steinbach Feedlot, where Scott resided and made a living. Scott and Judy married on April 11, 1987, had their firstborn, Miles, in 1990, and their daughter, Skylar, in 1992.
Scott bought a Spyder ski boat in 1988 and spent the summers on the water with his family and friends. In 1987, he started martial arts and continued off and on for 28 years, obtaining his black belt in 2005.
Scott and Judy parted ways in the Spring of 2011. In Fall 2011, Scott met Stephanie Fogleman, with whom he spent the remainder of his life. Scott bought a Harley-Davidson that took him and Stephanie to countless rallies, where they met many great people who turned into friends.
Scott was a steady presence in the lives of Miles and Skylar - a provider and protector. His love was constant and unconditional, whether he offered advice, laughed, or sat beside them in silence. Vivianne Steinbach, his granddaughter, gave Scott the name Papa, which was a title that brought pure joy to Scott's heart. Papa Scott delivered a special and unique relationship with each of his grandchildren.
Scott is survived by his parents, Marvin and Verna; partner, Stephanie; son, Miles (Beckyjo); daughter, Skylar (Kody); Brittany (Cody); and grandchildren, Chloe, Vivianne, Ophelia, Freya, Ryggs, Marlow, and Rahlee, all of whom carry pieces of his spirit in their hearts.
Though we mourn his absence, we are grateful for every moment we shared and every lesson he taught.
