Stanley W. Tiffany

Stanley W. Tiffany, 79, died Tuesday, July 19, 2016, of complications after a long illness.Born July 9, 1937, in Polson, Montana, to Edward A. and Leona L. Tiffany, Stan graduated from Great Falls High in 1955. He was always athletic and loved sports, especially football. Although small in size, he was a standout center and linebacker for the GF Bison, an All-Stater, and honored to play on the East team in the Shrine game. Stan was fortunate to have many friendships from his early years that lasted throughout his lifetime.Stan worked hard to pay his way through school and graduated from MSU (then Missoula) in 1960 with a degree in Pharmacy. While in college, he was a member of the Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity, and it was as a Sigma Chi house boy at the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority that he met his future bride, Janet McFarlane, of Missoula. Stan remained an avid Grizzly fan until the time of his death.After their marriage in 1962, they moved to Great Falls where their children, Margo Leigh and Gregory Scott were born. Stan worked at Second Avenue Drugstore, Super Save Drugs, and became Assistant Director of Pharmacy at the Deaconess Hospital, where he worked for over 30 years. Known as MacGyver to his children for his ability to fix things, he was hardworking, unselfish, fun loving, and unassuming. His talent and ingenuity are evident in the home and garden he and Janet created during the 54 years of their marriage.Stan volunteered in community activities and often served as a relief pharmacist in nearby communities. He was active in scouting programs with his son, was a past state president of the Montana Society of Hospital Pharmacists Association, and received Pharmacist of the Year award in 1980. He enjoyed hunting, traveling in the family trailer, rooting for the GRIZ, woodworking, gardening, and making wooden ornaments. Despite increasing physical limitations, Stan continued to travel and enjoyed time spent with family and friends.Stan was preceded in death by his parents.He is survived by his wife; daughter Margo of Chicago, IL; son Greg (Jon Bernardo) of Seattle, WA; brothers Hal (Beverly) Tiffany of Woodbury, MN and Tom Tiffany; twin sisters Nancy Olson and Nellie Heckman all of Polson, MT; brother-in-law Jim (Carmen) McFarlane of Missoula; 13 nieces and nephews; and a large extended family.A private remembrance was held July 22 during a family reunion at Glacier National Park.A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at the Episcopal Church of the Incarnation located at 6th Street at 3rd Avenue North, Great Falls, MT.In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations in Stanleys memory to the Great Falls Community Food Bank, 1620 12th Ave. N., Great Falls.
