Steven “Woody” Woodwick passed away on February 5, 2022, at the age of 64, in Great Falls, MT. After a courageous and hard-fought battle with cancer, Woody spent his final peaceful moments surrounded by family who will continue to honor his legacy of giving what you can when you can. “Everybody Eats!” -Woody Woody was born on November 27, 1957, to James and Theresa Woodwick in Havre, MT. He attended Saint Jude Catholic School and Havre High School where he graduated in 1976. He began playing the drums in middle school and his passion for the instrument that never faded led him to playing in and touring with several different bands, the most well-known of which was Billy Waldo and The Flying Grizzlies. With this band, he made it all the way to the Nashville battle of the bands in 1982. It was during his time with this band that he met and married Jean Ballard Woodwick. While they were together, they welcomed two amazing children, Tyler and Catelyn to their family. Woody and Jean remained good friends until the very end. In addition to being a musician, Woody proudly held the title of kitchen manager or “king of the spatula” at the very same rescue mission where he found his purpose and turned his life around. Woody overcame many obstacles in his life including an alcohol addiction with the help of God and the Rescue Mission of Great Falls, MT. The simple things in life brought Woody the most joy. Things like spending as much time as possible with family, hiking, going out on the boat, and fishing with his daughter and her boyfriend Wade, shopping and watching movies with his future wife Roxie (his Queen), being silly with and spoiling his grandchildren Kallyn, Liam, and Ayahna, endless witty banter with his daughter-in-law, Sharaya, sharing his hobby of shooting guns with his son, Tyler, talking about life with his best friend, Bob, and just simply having good conversations with people. Woody had a running joke with his grandsons and would often go to pop out his dentures in front of them eliciting a resounding response of “For the love of God Papa, keep them in!” Anyone who knew Woody knew that he would literally give them the shirt of his back, all while sharing with them the love of God and the forgiveness that he has for them. Woody was best known for being a generous, funny, and loving man and his kindness will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Woody was preceded in death by his parents, James and Theresa; and his brother, Vince. He is survived by his siblings; Colleen (Mike) Gannon of Maple Valley, WA and Allen (Keri) Woodwick of Havre, MT; children Tyler (Sharaya) Woodwick and Catelyn Woodwick; grandchildren, Kallyn, Liam, and Ayahna Woodwick; several nieces and nephews; and incalculable lives he touched on his journey. A memorial service will be help in Great Falls, MT on Saturday, March 5, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at the Cameron Family Center (408 2nd Ave. South Great Falls, MT 59405). Another memorial is being planned for Saturday, June 25, 2022, in Bozeman, MT with the location and time TBD.
