Susan K. Sue Dunning, 60, of Dutton, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2014 after a 9 month battle with cancer. Sue was at her home surrounded by her family, who gain comfort knowing her pain and suffering has ended, and she is now in the loving hands of our God.Sue was the fourth child born to Thomas P. and Shirley Newcomb in Great Falls. Sue received her high school education in Great Falls and Missoula. She pursued her nursing education in Great Falls and ultimately became a Licensed Practical Nurse and an EMT. Throughout her career, she has worked at various locations in Great Falls, Conrad, and Choteau. She worked QRU in Dutton and also with the Teton County Ambulance for 12 years, mainly in Choteau and Power. In 2004, she was the co-founder and Director of Dutton Emergency Medical Services, a 501(c)(3) organization, which brought the first ambulance to Dutton. Also in 2004, she helped in establishing a Pondera Medical Center clinic location in the town of Dutton. Due to health related issues, she retired from her professional career in 2010.She had a strong passion for volunteering and health care. She was an instructor who would conduct training sessions for many EMTs to ensure small communities have access to emergency care. During her lifetime, Sue volunteered thousands of hours and would give anything to someone in need, even if she had little to nothing herself. Her last wish was to provide a Chuck Wagon trailer for the Teton County First Responders and Search and Rescue. Numerous friends and family will ensure this last wish will be fulfilled.Sue married the love of her life, Wayne Dunning, on February 18, 1984 and raised their well-blended family in Dutton. She was an extremely proud, supportive and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend who will be beyond greatly missed. She enjoyed spending time with her family, supporting her community, gardening, cooking, quilting and appreciating her flowers. Sue was known for her beautiful smile and her big blue eyes. Throughout her journey, she would continue to remind us all that she was, Still Busy Living and would ask, God, when I die, what can I do to help You?In addition to her husband, Wayne, she is survived by her children, Rick (Amy) Nelson of Seattle, WA; Amy (Tony) Horner of Great Falls; Jay (Chantel) Dunning of Dutton; and stepson Brian Dunning of Tuscon, AZ. Her fabulous grandchildren, Andrew, Ashley, Kaiden, Mataya, Alyeis, Jayenna, and Kaye. She is also survived by her mother, Shirley Newcomb of Great Falls; brother Mike Newcomb of Port Angeles, WA; sisters Tammy (Jim) Hanan of Albuquerque, NM, Candi (Steve) Short of Great Falls, and Peggy (Spencer) Bracey of Spokane, WA; Uncle Bob and Aunt Marge Hicks of Ulm; and numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas P. Newcomb, Jr.; brother Thomas P. Newcomb, III; and stepson Brady Dunning.A celebration of Sues life will be held Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church in Dutton followed by graveside services at Dutton Cemetery.
