Vera Hewitt

Vera Mary Hewitt, 95, of Great Falls, passed away June 6, 2016.Services will be held at a later date. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Schnider Funeral Home.Vera was born on June 28, 1920 to Bert and Viva (Hibner) Darvis in Plentywood, Montana. She graduated from Plentywood High School in 1938, the same year that she married the love of her life, Clarence H. Hewitt. They were married for 49 years, until his passing in 1986. In 1940, they had their first child, Skip, followed by Rosanne in 1943, and Glenna in 1950. In fall of 1956, the family moved to Great Falls, Bigfork in 1980 until 2010, and finally returning to Great Falls in 2010, where she resided at Highgate House until her passing.She loved to dance every Saturday night. She reminisced about dancing up until the end. She was known as an amazing cook and passed on most of her recipes to Rosanne. She was a lifelong member of Bigfork Community Methodist Church.Vera is survived by her son, Skip Hewitt of Great Falls; daughters Rosanne (Frank) Olszewski of Great Falls and Glenna (Dennis) Murry of Westchester, OH; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; parents Bert and Viva; brother Bucky; sisters Dodie and Florence; and daughter-in-law Becky.
