Wanda Faye Skulavik

September 20, 1931 — September 27, 2023

Wanda Faye Skulavik was born September 20, 1931, in Colorado City, Texas and passed away on September 27, 2023, in Great Falls, Montana. Wanda had three sons. Sons Stanley Newton and Leslie Cagle predeceased her. She is survived by son, Mark Cagle of Yuma, Arizona; and multiple  grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

During her 92 years she had a full and complex life. She started working at the age of five picking almonds from the ground and kept herself busy in one job or another throughout her life. Aunt Wanda worked as a cosmetologist for many years. She was at her home enjoying her well-manicured yard and hanging out with her beloved dachshund, Jake, when she departed. It was a lovely fall afternoon and at the time-of-day Aunt Wanda would sit and indulge in chips or candy corn and salted peanut mix.

Wanda never forgot a birthday. Never. All family and friends received cards on time. Always! Aunt Wanda, as she preferred to be called by most of us, had many other gifts and talents, but remembering everyone’s birthday cannot go unnoticed. She wanted her people to know she loved them, and they were important.

Wanda was a ball of fire and fun, which was apparent from the bumper sticker on her Jeep: “Get in! Buckle up! Hang on!” She reveled in a travel adventure, several of them on cruise ships where she could dance all night. No matter what day it was you would find Aunt Wanda dressed to the nines, the perfect hat finished most outfits. As a free spirit herself, she valued other free spirits. She also adored her independence, living in her own home and driving her Jeep.

Pets and animals were dear to Wanda and made her happy. Wanda was a hired dog walker and watched pets in homes. One of her happiest days was the adoption of Jake at the Shelter. They loved each other---true affection.

In her later years, a day in the life of Aunt Wanda was to be happy and peaceful. She read, tended to her house and yard, went to the market, and walked Jake. At 5:00 p.m. it was chip time before dinner, phone calls to visit friends and family, and then snuggling with Jake before bed.

Aunt Wanda’s philosophy was: “Do things that make you and others happy. Find a way to feel happy.”- She always ended her conversation with enjoy the day.”  She will be greatly missed because our world was better with Aunt Wanda in it. A celebration of Wanda’s life will be held at a time and place to be determined. Memorials can be made to the Maclean-Cameron Animal Adoption Center (mc-aac.org).
