William “Bill” Cherpeski passed away December 2, 2020 at The Ivy Nursing home from COVID-19, four days short of his 82nd birthday. He was born December 6, 1938, to John and Eileen Cherpeski in Great Falls. He attended school in Great Falls and went to work for what is now Burlington Northern Railway at a young age. He worked there for 29 years except for the 2 years he spent in the Army. Following an accident at work, he went on disability in 1983. He met his wife Joanne Goette in 1970, and they celebrated their 50th anniversary on September 12, 2020. Bill had many interests, including stained glass, word search puzzles, scrapbooking, bird watching, playing cards, and a coffee group at the Gold Dust. He is survived by his wife, Joanne; daughters, Tara Haman and Tracie Cherpeski; grandchildren, Orri, Teran, Darby and Haizley Haman; sister, Donna Sisko; Sisters-in-law, Elaine Goette and Irene Cherpeski; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Eileen Cherpeski; brother, James Cherpeski; sister, Susan Dickman; son-in-law, Stacy Micheletti; brothers-in-law, George Sisko and Raymond Goette. Cremation is being handled by Schnider Funeral Home. A memorial will take place next summer.
