Shirley Scott

October 28, 1926 — April 10, 2017

Shirley Mae (Robertson) Scott, 90, of Great Falls, passed away April 10, 2017 at a local care facility.Viewing will be held at 10:00 a.m. with a funeral liturgy to follow at 11:00 a.m. both at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Tuesday, April 18, 2017. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Schnider Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.Shirley was born on October 28, 1926 in Spokane, Washington to Gordon and Peggy Robertson. As a young infant, Shirley and her family moved to Floweree, Montana to farm and ranch. She attended a one room school house next to their family farm. The family then moved to Townsend for a brief time to farm and she attended school there until they moved back to Floweree. Shirley graduated from Great Falls High in 1944. After graduating she attended the University of Montana, where she joined the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. She met the love of her life, Wilbur E. Scott. Soon after, they were married on June 21, 1947.Wibur and Shirley lived in Missoula and had a daughter, Mary Lou. They then moved away for a couple years to Pasadena, California and came back to Floweree to farm with their family. In 1956, they built their home in Great Falls on 30th Street and 8th Ave South, where two sons were born, Gordon and Brett. They continued to live in their home until they fell ill.Shirley was a member of the Holy Family Parish and Holy Spirit Catholic Church. She was extremely involved in church activities, being a part of Stephen Ministries, Holy Family Choir and the Womens Circle Group. Wilbur and Shirley were members of the Meadow Lark Country Club, where Shirley was very involved in the Womens Golf Association. Golf was a passion of Shirleys. She enjoyed cooking for family and friends. She also loved playing bridge with her friends.She was a very loving, caring, supportive wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, mother-in-law and friend. She enjoyed traveling, especially with her good friend, Rita Todd. Shirley always had a smile on her face, she was an exuberant, generous, and kind-hearted person with many lifelong friends. She loved music, singing and especially going dancing with Wilbur.Shirley is survived by daughter Mary Lou Scott (Doug Houghton) of Pueblo, CO; sons Gordon H. (Stephani) Scott of Floweree, MT and Brett Scott of Great Falls, MT; granddaughter Taylor Scott of Great Falls, MT; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Wilbur in 2008; parents Gordon and Peggy Robertson; brother James Robertson; and sisters Muriel Kittock and Jeannie Muretta.The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Goldstone, where Shirley spent the last five years of her life, being cared for, loved by staff members especially Lisa, who was there with her from the very start.Memorial donation in Shirleys name can be donated to the Alzheimers Association Montana Chapter, 3010 11th Ave N., Billings, MT 59101.
